CMP Yak 54 ARF 140 - 71.5" Nitro Gas Radio Remote Controlled Aerobatic RC Airplane Almost-Ready-to-Fly Planestar rating 4John GeorgenOctober 4, 2011This is a very pretty airplane. Does need care to solidify flying surfaces to prevent flutter ( at least 4-40 rods, etc.) Nose weight is needed, with a DLE 30, I still needed batteries and lead in the nose.. Even with all this, plane is a great flier. No flutter problems even with full throttle.
CMP Yak 54 ARF 140 - 71.5" Nitro Gas Radio Remote Controlled Aerobatic RC Airplane Almost-Ready-to-Fly Planestar rating 5opjoseJuly 20, 2011The hinges are NOT glued at the factory, so the "manufacturing issue" does not exist. This is a great flying plane, but it needs things shoved forward for proper C.G. Stick your batteries in the cowl area if possible.

You have to CA them yourself. Nice kit and well packaged. I'll be keeping and eye on the weight and flutter tips.

CMP Yak 54 ARF 140 - 71.5" Nitro Gas Radio Remote Controlled Aerobatic RC Airplane Almost-Ready-to-Fly Planestar rating 3Brian R. S.July 20, 2010My plane looked and fle beautiful all the way through the first flight until the aileron detached from the wing. Now I have a heap of fibergalss pieces. The factory failed to properly glue the hinges. Instead of drilling a hole in the center of the mounting slot to allow the CA to wick through the entire hinge and wood area the hinges were just inserted and CA applied. As a result only the leading edge of the wood was glued to the hinge which under the stress pulled right out. I am really disappointed because I invested a lot of time and monet in this model. I did the normal pull-on-the-hinges but the glue was strong enough to pass this test I will be writing to the manufacturer as soon as I finish assesing what other damage was done to the motor and equipment as a result of this manufacturing defect. The model flies and handles great! ANd I would not hesistate to recommend it with the one warning to take pro-active approach to re-glue or replace the stock hinges.

But once you give more power the elevators flutter which is a big problem and after discussions with just about all the members of our club as well as with hobby shop owners I still do not have a solutions for this Maybe somebody out there can help me. my email address is as follows encore@cyberserv.co.za Thankyou very much
